The Richmond Animal Care & Control Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit dedicated to supporting the agency's success. RACC is the only open admission animal shelter in the city servicing over 3,000 animals per year that need immediate care. The Foundation collaborates closely with RACC to support the costs of critical emergency care, provide a part time trainer/behaviorist, increase marketing and outreach efforts through fundraising and volunteer coordination. Together, RACC and The Foundation are passionate about saving lives and excited to share the many inspiring stories of compassion towards our City's most vulnerable animals.

Adopt from RACC
RACC receives animals from individuals who are no longer able to care for their pets as well as animals that are lost or abandoned. We are looking for people who are willing to provide permanent, loving homes for these animals.
All animals that are available for adoption have passed an evaluation based on their known history, health and temperament. Animals remain available at our shelter as long as their good health and behavior continue. There is no time limit for how long an animal may remain on our adoption floors.
- You must be 18 years of age or older to adopt an animal.
- A current photo ID (driver’s license or state ID card) is required to process an adoption.
- Proper form of payment (cash, credit/debit card, money order). Checks are not an accepted form of payment.
- A carrier for your adopted kitty or a leash and collar for your adopted dog.
- All of our animals will be spayed/neutered prior to going home.
